Laura Jesson (Celia Johnson) goes into Milford every Thursday to do the week's shopping and go to a movie. But when something unexpectedly gets in her eye while at the tea shop, Dr. Alec Harvey is able to save her. and this random happenstance turns into a friendship. But the friendship deepens even though the both of them are married with children as the passion continues to slowly escalate. Harvey is extraordinarily handsome, rugged, and desperate passion looks damned good on him.
