#ManCrushMonday Orson Welles in "Jane Eyre" (1943)

People might remember the great Citizen Kane or Macbeth as an overweight man from commercials of the '70s, but hot damn. As the tortured owner of the Gothic and terrifying Thornfield Hall, tortured by the wife he has hidden in one wing of the mansion, Welles's version of Edward Rochester is not only frightening by the use of shadow, but a deep and philosophical man plagued by sadness. In short: a fantastic soulful actor playing an iconic soulful character.
